The Everyday Tools That Make Life Easier as a 310T Truck & Coach Technician

Anyone working as a 310T Truck & Coach technician knows the right tools can save a lot of time, frustration, and busted knuckles. Over the years, I’ve learned that not every tool has to come off the bright shiny tool truck. There are a lot of excellent tools available online that do the same job for much less money.

As an Amazon Associate, I may earn a commission from qualifying purchases through the links below. That being said, many of these are tools I personally own and use regularly in the shop.

Lisle Tools That Earn Their Place in the Toolbox

Lisle Tap Socket Set

One specialty tool I reach for regularly is a tap socket set. These are incredibly useful for cleaning up damaged threads in tight areas where a normal tap handle simply won’t fit. Perfect for engine work, exhaust repairs, and stubborn chassis hardware. I would much rather ratchet a tap in over trying to use the t-handle to drive it down in those tight spots.

Lisle Plastic Creeper

A quality creeper might not seem exciting, but when spending hours underneath trucks and trailers, comfort matters. This Lisle plastic creeper is lightweight, durable, and rolls smoothly around the shop. Sometime I creeper can make those uncomfortable jobs a little bit easier.

Lisle CV Boot Clamp Pliers

Trying to tighten CV boot clamps without the proper tool usually turns into frustration. These pliers make installation much easier and help get a clean, secure clamp every time. I don’t have any CV boots in my trade but I have had times when some hose clamps have called for these pliers.

Inspection & Retrieval Tools

Dropped hardware and hard-to-reach components are just part of the trade. Inspection and retrieval tools make life in the shop much easier. Stick a magnetic inside the tip of a rubber glove and reach inside the tight spot with you find and pick up that damn 10mm socket that dropped out of your sight. And to keep those gloves off the top of your box try a box holder to mount on the side and out of your way.

Tool Trucks vs Buying Online

Tool trucks absolutely have their place, especially for tools that take heavy abuse every single day. But for many specialty tools and shop accessories, buying online can save hundreds or even thousands of dollars over time.

At the end of the day, the goal is simple:

  • get the repair done efficiently,
  • have reliable tools,
  • and keep more money in your own pocket.

A lot of these tools have become permanent fixtures in my toolbox, and they’ve paid for themselves many times over. And sometimes if you can’t get it off the truck, at the store or online, you simply have to try out your fabricating skills.
